Hello Hometalk Pros,

We’ve just rolled out a new feature — portfolios. With portfolios, you can showcase your work on your Hometalk profile, creating a great resource and visual reference to show to customers.

How to Create a Portfolio

To create your portfolio, hover over your account name in the top right corner of the screen and select “Manage Portfolio”.

If your portfolio is empty: click “create your first album” to create an album.

 If you already have a “Featured Photos” album: click “Add Album” to create a new album.

Type in a title and description for your new album, and then choose photos to upload.

Make sure to describe the photos you’ve selected. (Descriptions must be 235 characters or less.)

Click the “Create Album” button to finish uploading your album. — Hooray! You’re done. :)

How to Manage Album Images

To Edit an image description, Remove an image, or Flag an image, hover over it for the arrow and click for the dropdown menu.

You can also Add more Photos or Reorder photos within an album.

How to Manage Albums

To Add or Reorder albums, click on “Portfolio” under “Overview” in your profile.

To Edit an album description or title, or Delete an album, click into the album.

How to Manage Featured Images

The featured images in your profile overview will now be selected based on the images in your album. You will have one feature image if you have one album, two if you have two albums, and three if you have three or more albums. The featured picture will always be the first image in each album.

The portfolio is a great way to organize your projects, show off your work, and give your brand a great visual presence. We hope you enjoy using this feature and if you have any questions or comments, please let us know at support@hometalk.com.

We’re excited to announce that you can now tag people in posts and comments on Hometalk!

Here are some tagging basics:

1. How to Tag. When typing a post description or a comment, type “@” before the name of the person you want to tag. As you type that person’s name, a drop-down menu of names appears. Click on the name in the menu of the person you want to tag.

2. You can tag more than one person in a post. If you’d like to tag multiple people in a post or comment, simply repeat the tagging process for each person you’d like to tag.

3. When you tag someone, that person will receive an email notification. This can be particularly useful if you’d like to show a friend a particular post, or if you’d like to get the attention of a particular pro to help answer a question.

We’re happy to introduce the latest site update: the Members & Pros search. With this new feature, searching for other members, bloggers and home professionals is easier than ever.

Click on “Members & Pros” in the navigation bar at the top of your screen.
Note: you can filter Hometalkers by “All Members,” “Professionals,” “Bloggers,” or “Following.”

The search results display based on level of activity, so the more active you are on Hometalk, the higher you’ll be in the results!

To narrow your results within each filter, you can search by name and/or zip code.

We hope this new feature helps you connect with other members, bloggers, and professionals in your area. :)
